Trickster Guru was the alternative rock project of Los Angeles based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Chris Caplan. Caplan recorded two EP's with his band members Jason Aguja (bass, co-production) and Dylan Fenley (drums). Their sophomore EP "Problem Child" received critical acclaim from blogs like Buzzbands LA, which praised "Problem Child" as "a collection of bluesy pop and unrestrained rockers that display substantial range yet are not always what they seem." The title track also contained a notable collaboration with the progressive electronic producer AWAY, who also assisted with production on "The Big Surprise." They received airplay from NPR's KCRW and went on to perform at LA's prestigious "It's a School Night" and KCRW's Summer Nights concert series in Chinatown before disbanding in 2018. He is currently active under his solo project El Caplan.
