Parasol is an Eora/Sydney-based producer, radio host and MIDI enthusiast. They made their debut on the V/A compilation Mutants Mixtape #5: FREE, where their track ‘Jitterbug’ serves as the opener amongst contributions from Nicolas Jaar, Giant Claw, Holly Herndon, Arca, Cecile Believe, and Matmos. In 2021 they released their debut full-length record 1800-PARASOL, a collection of beatless trance sketches inspired by ringtone music, on Midheaven. As a performer and DJ, Parasol most recently supported umru and Petal Supply at the Eora stop of their joint Australian tour, and has also played alongside local artists Donatachi, Katie Dey, D V D, Solsa, Grasps, Taffa, E3P and Ealing. They co-host the show Deep Web on FBi Radio with Krishtie Mofazzal, which “zeroes in on the frequencies originating from musical cyberspace, shining a spotlight on labels and releases that come from all corners of the internet.” They are currently working on a second full-length, due to be completed in late 2023, that has so far seen their sonic interests moving from traditional trance sounds and supersaws towards more organic, reedy, woodwind textures.
