If singer-songwriters were born like superheroes from the ashes of freak accidents, Joe Hedges could have walked out of the exploded laboratory housing the dismembered consciousnesses of Peter Gabriel, Bon Iver and Sting. Hedges is a recording artist and visual artist living in rural Washington state whose compositions are highly dynamic, merging electronic and acoustic instrumentation. With introspective lyrics and soaring choruses, Hedges molds contemporary soundscapes and innovative melodies that are grounded in a classical approach to song-craft. Having cut his teeth on grunge and alt-rock while growing up in rural Ohio, Joe Hedges has steadily evolved into a singer-songwriter of extraordinary depth and soul, even without the aid of parapsychological explosion events. Hedges has placed two songs in the Billboard charts, one with his former rock band formerly of MCA Records and one performed by a reality television star. He has placed music in commercials, movies and podcasts such as Freakonomics from WYNC, and has played countless shows in the United States and Europe opening for acts such as MUSE and The Counting Crows. He is currently working on his third full-length album.
