Combat Beach is not a one-man bedroom-project, but rather a band with a fluctuating line-up. Besides himself as songwriter, Moritz likes to recruit whoever’s available and willing from his friends and acquaintances, live and on record. Just like a musical diary, he packs his emotions and everything that’s on his mind into short and catchy tracks of punk, pop, indie or emo - or all of the above simultaneously. "effortlessly cool" is the title of the new and second album by Austrian indie pop/punk outfit Combat Beach. Coolness, on this record, does not come as effortlessly as the title might suggest though. Heartache, mental health or loneliness are some of its topics and neither effortless nor really that cool. That’s what the album is about though: It is a collection of snapshots of young peoples’ lives that show that we can learn from the daily struggle and get out of any experience just a little better than we went in. Thus, even if the title 'effortlessly cool' is meant with a touch of irony, the message stays the same: If we grow with the challenges, coolness comes automatically. Combat Beach underlines that with happy-go-lucky bedroom-, power-, and indie pop that sounds effortless, and a tad bit cool too. 10 tracks of ups and downs and carefree melodies and DIY and pop culture references and a nod to Vienna’s punk venue numero uno Venster99. - Seayou Records <3
