Chris spent his early years as the stepson of a Wyoming rodeo bull rider. Moving from town to town and traveling the rodeo circuit throughout the Western U.S with his family, Chris received a 1st class education in country and folk music. After the divorce of his parents, Chris settled back in San Diego only to learn that a tragic rodeo accident had left his stepfather paralyzed. Chris began writing songs, forming notable punk rock bands in his teens, eventually signing to Billie Joe Armstrong’s Label, Adeline Records. “Teen angst is great fuel to get you started, but you eventually need something more to keep going”, Chris has noted. “I’ve always held a deep respect for the integrity of roots Country and Americana music.” After the bands broke up and all lessons learned, Chris landed right back where he started - Country Music. Setting out on a years-long creative adventure, Chris put his rusty Ford Ranger in gear and set out across the country to Nashville, where he honed his craft further and set about learning the craft of story-telling. This journey led to a collaborative stint with Ted Russell Kamp (Shooter Jennings) co-writing the album's final track ‘Lord Let Me Run’. Now back home in the California desert, ‘Ocotillo Rose’ is Chris’ story of his last 3 years of writing. ‘I wrote tons of songs but only released the 7 songs I never got sick of! These songs are about my love for life, travel, and the desert. The desert is trend-proof. It never lies to you.”
