Биография

Rollergirl is the moniker of German singer Nicole Saft (aka Nicci Juice), who, in tandem with her husband, Eurodance hitmaker Alex Christensen, enjoyed a couple Top 20 hits ("Dear Jessie," "Luv U More") in 1999 and a couple Top 40 hits ("Enternal Flame," "Superstar") in 2000. Born on November 19, 1975, in Lünen, Germany, Saft met Christensen on the Spanish island of Mallorca and began collaborating with him soon afterward. The Rollergirl moniker was inspired by Heather Graham's character of the same name in the 1997 film Boogie Nights. Crediting herself as Nicci Juice, Saft debuted as Rollergirl in 1999 with "Dear Jessie," originally a 1989 European hit single performed by Madonna on her Like a Prayer album (though unreleased as a single in the United States, the Madonna original was a Top 20 hit in Germany). Rollergirl's remake of "Dear Jessie" became a Top 20 hit in Germany and was followed by another Top 20 cover hit, "Luv U More," originally performed by Sunscreem in 1991. A third single, "You Make Me Feel Like Dancin'," was released in Denmark. These singles were featured on the full-length album Now I'm Singin'...and the Party Keeps on Rollin' (2000). With the exception of "Dear Jessie" and "Luv U More," Now I'm Singin'...and the Party Keeps on Rollin' is primarily comprised of original material written by Saft, Christensen, and frequent collaborator Peter Könemann. A couple additional singles followed in 2000, namely the Top 40 hits "Eternal Flame" (originally a 1989 Bangels hit) and "Superstar," and prompted the re-release of Now I'm Singin'...and the Party Keeps on Rollin' in 2001 with the inclusion of these additional singles. A couple further Rollergirl singles were released in subsequent years, namely "Close to You" (2001) and "Geisha Dreams" (2002), before Saft hung up her roller skates in favor of motherhood. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
