T-Ride was an influential San Francisco area based heavy metal band that was signed to Hollywood records in the early 90s. Known for their wildly complex instrument and vocal arrangements, they toured the U.S. and internationally during that time to promote their album whose music was featured in several movies and television soundtracks. The band’s creator, lead vocalist and songwriter Dan Arlie, had previously been offered the position of lead singer, formerly held by Sammy Hagar, in the re-union of the 70s arena rock band Montrose by the band’s namesake lead guitar player Ronnie Montrose. Arlie turned down the offer and after being offered a development deal with Capital Records, decided instead to concentrate on his own band for which he would write the music and lyrics and record himself. He hired Eric Valentine as multi-instrumentalist / producer and later, student of Joe Satriani, Geoff Tyson, to play lead guitar on the album and provide background vocals . The band turned down offers from Geffen, Arista and Relativity Records electing to sign a record deal with Hollywood Records worth over half a million dollars, but after tours of the U.S. and Europe, broke up midway through the recording of their next album despite having earnest interest from several other record companies. Valentine went on to produce bands Third Eye Blind and Smashmouth among others while Geoff Tyson went on to record and tour with the bands Stimulator and Snake River Conspiracy.
