Биография
A popular Spanish alternative rock band with independent roots, Lori Meyers were formed in 1998 in Loja, a town of approximately 20,000 people in the Spanish province of Granada. The group originally comprised schoolmates Antonio López (aka Noni; vocals, guitar), Julián Méndez (bass, keyboard, vocals), Alejandro Méndez (guitar), and Alfredo Núñez (drums). Sergio Martín (guitar, bass, vocals) would later take the place of Méndez on bass. On the strength of some 2002-2003 demo recordings later compiled on the Ya Lo Sabes EP (2004), Lori Meyers released their full-length debut, Viaje de Estudios (2004), on Houston Party Records, a fashionable Spanish indie rock label. "Tokio Ya No Nos Quiere" was released as a single for the album, followed by the aforementioned Ya Lo Sabes EP, whose title track was also culled from the album. Lori Meyers then released a second EP, La Caza (2005), this one comprising new material, before releasing their second full-length album, Hostal Pimodán, later in the year. It featured the single "Dilema." By this point, there was a significant buzz around Lori Meyers, thanks in part to a growing chorus of critical praise, and consequently the band was offered a major-label contract with La Incubadora, a Spanish alternative rock subsidiary of Universal Music Group. Upon accepting the offer, the band re-released Hostal Pimodán in 2006 on La Incubadora with a bonus disc of newly recorded material. In 2008, behind the single "Luces de Neón," Lori Meyers released Cronolánea. The album sold well enough to peak at number 21 on the Spanish albums chart. Their fourth long-player, 2010's Cuando el Destino Nos Alcance, was produced by multiple Grammy winner Sebastián Krys and reached number 16. The pattern continued into the next decade with Impronta (also produced by Krys), which climbed to the number three spot in 2013. Its songs "Planilandia" and "El Tiempo Pasará" both landed in the Top 30 of the singles chart. A year later, they released an EP called A Solas, and their fifth studio album, En la Espiral, topped the Spanish albums chart in 2017. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
