KEOLA: “THE LIFE” Just like the Hawaiian word he’s named after, Keola is hard to predict. A slew of juxtaposing musical influences (including hip hop artists, EDM DJ’s, pop artists, movie score composers, and slam poets) and an unconventional outlook on art and life makes every minute of his music a new adventure. In essence he is a hip hop artist, his songs filled with electric rhythm and flowery poetry, but drowning out the usual preconceptions of a rapper is a vast and colorful world Keola uses to tell his stories. Wyatt Keola Dean Kaneshiro started making music in his early years of high school, joining with a few friends to create two mixtapes as the satyrical rap group, The Graveyard Villains, and releasing one solo mixtape, La La Love You, in which he truly discovered his love for music and art. He went on to win awards 2 years in a row at his high school for the scores of student films and perform at the annual Honolulu Pride Parade as well as other local venues. In March of 2019, Keola released his first official album, "WINTER: A Sonic Adventure", a poetic exploration of spirituality that earned a Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award nomination for Best Hip Hop Album of the Year.
