At the young age of 24, Gabriel Jacoby has walked many paths, and it is the breadth of these experiences that manifest into his distinctly authentic sound, character, and image. Coming from humble beginnings in Anderson, SC, Gabriel grew up quickly in the face of complicated family dynamics, and being the oldest of 7 instigated him to quickly become accustomed to taking matters into his own hands. In his words, “Who I am is not based on any type of ego - I was raised in the ghettos of South Carolina and Florida with kids who grew up to be gangsters, and I am who I am because of those experiences. I’m at the center of everything I do and create, and everything I do is unique to me. To me, art is just art, and I’m not here to cater to the culture, but to glue ideas and people together. I’m here to make a change.” There is empowerment and independence that comes with such idiosyncrasies, and this can be heard in both Gabriel’s songwriting and his beautifully self-produced records. Gabriel Jacoby’s future may be brighter than his past, but it is his past that fosters the light he will bring into the world.
