Stephen Covell first picked up a guitar at age 17 and he has been creating music ever since. A singer-songwriter who was also former combat medic with the 82nd Airborne Division, much of his most recent material comes from working through the complex emotions of deploying to a war torn country then returning to a home he often feels like he no longer recognizes. One of a handful of select military veteran musicians on the Operation Encore roster, his style is hard to pin down. Folk inspired, acoustic driven, with a heavy focus on storytelling, his music is a window into a life that few have experienced. A struggle with death in the guise of a love song, his most recent release "Her Cold Hands" delves into the ongoing crisis of veteran suicide.
