Sound Mirrors, a six piece sunshine pop and indie psych collective from Essex, UK, began in 2015 with front man and song writer, rico, recording demos of his original material with Lemoncurd Kids and The March Fleet Guitarist, James Carroll. The resulting mini album, Electronic Memory [A Demonstration Recording], secured rico a slot at the boutique festival, Fling, for which he assembled a full band. Key to the new Sound Mirrors lineup was Hammond organ player, Adam Scott, who embraced rico's pop psych and collaborated to arrange rich soundscapes around the raw melodies. Additional Core members in that first full band incarnation of Sound Mirrors were Bijoux Toots vocalist, Alli Burke and drummer, JP. This lineup recorded The Sunrise EP in 2016. Later that year Sound Mirrors saw the departure of Alli, Bassist, Jed and Guitarist, Modge Morris. Jeanette Lynes joined on backing vocals while Colchester scene veterans, Theo Pierce, guitars, and Patch Hasler, bass, formed Sound Mirrors 3.0. Almost immediately the group found themselves in the studio and recorded their first single, Forever Tonight. In the spring of 2017 Sound Mirrors reconvened at Studio 6 Music to record their debut album, the ambitious and expansive, spacerocketsandsunshine. Sound Mirrors disbanded in January 2018, after a final show at The John Peel Centre for BBC6 Music. Rico's next project, Fret Bear, will debut in September 2018.
