Hagar's soulful music is not exactly simple to categorise. It seeps deep into the listener's memories of 1990's masterful female songwriting (mostly piano-paramours Tori Amos and Fiona Apple) while echoing R'n'B' melodies and grooves best identified with Sade and Jill Scott. Levy's natural instinct is to expose what beats in her heart while also leaving space for wonder; her very intimate writing could easily be experienced as a late night heart-to-heart, deeply needed and long awaited.
