Биография

Convexity is the project of Myrtle Beach-based producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Jared "Jae" Tompkins. While their 2021 Timequake EP landed them on the radars of dubstep and jazz fanatics alike, they are in no way a new face. At an early age, they taught themself piano and music theory, and began to produce classic brostep in 2012. When their 2018 track Cosmic Kittens with EXZAUST became a surprise hit, thanks in part to support from YouTube sensation Jordan "Captainsparklez" Maron, they started taking things seriously, and rebooted their project with 2019's Me and My Shadow EP. Tompkins' current sound is a forward-thinking blend of jazz, funk, vaporwave, and bass music, inspired by the styles of electronic artists such as Haywyre and Anomalie, as well as funk and jazz legends such as George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. This sound began to take shape in 2021 with the release of the aforementioned Timequake EP, their first of many releases on Chime's Rushdown imprint. Tompkins has also brought their sound to dubstep heavyweight labels Disciple and Circus Records, as well as smaller, community-based imprints. Their music has garnered the support of Au5, Teminite, Moore Kismet, Pixel Terror, and many fans across the globe. With each year, Convexity has become more of a force in the bass music scene, and with countless exciting projects yet to be unveiled, dubstep fans can expect to see a lot more of Convexity's genre-bending music on their radars in the future.
