2023 - Al Heaney makes his home in California’s San Fernando Valley, having been raised in the suburbs and farmland of Beavercreek Ohio and made his way for the better part of a decade in the city of Chicago. Small town life in the rear-view, 2015 saw Al drawing fascination from bargain bins at Chicago record stores by day and waiting tables downtown to pay rent by night. Essential Forever is the result of years spent digging through crates and mining gems of sonic debris from which to build pop mosaics. Essential Forever turns that experience into a feeling of intimate personal discovery for the listener, lost in time for the duration of a song among worn-in tapestries of analog recording, captivated by melodic songcraft evoking the love-tinted 60s and 70s. Like a Swiss watch stuck at midnight, Essential Forever intricately pieces together time honored studio sounds and practices with elegant reflections on finding one's place in the world.
