Recognised as one of Malta's biggest bands, Red Electric officially formed over 10 years ago, but it all really began a long time before, when budding 13 year old guitarist Peter Borg met the slightly older bass player Ivan Borg - the latter doing what any self-respecting, God-fearing musician in Malta does - playing in church. Soon, they were joined by geeky, piano playing wizkid Aleandro Spiteri Monsigneur, and when the three realised they needed the best singer on the island to help deliver their message, the line-up was complete with the arrival of Joe Roscoe. Half British Roscoe, with movie star looks, a love of surfing and a powerful, soulful voice, became the band's frontman. Peter, with his obsessive love of guitar pedals and rare equipment, converted his basement into a studio (which is, to this day, the songwriting and recording home of the band) and became the band’s producer. Fast forward to 2023 and Red Electric are not only still going, but in fact, just hitting their stride. Like so many bands, the Red Electric story is equal parts disappointment and determination, with years of near misses, being widely ignored by the world outside Malta, and hitting the glass ceiling of their local scene.
