Биография
George Henry aka Pinky Dread was born in Falmouth, Jamaica. He is the son of Hortense Ellis, also known as "Jamaica's First Lady of Songs" who was known for his work with Lee Scratch Perry, Bunny Lee and Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespeare. He is also the nephew of legendary singer-songwriter Alton Ellis, Jamaica's Godfather of Rocksteady. Pinky started singing when he was only 6 years old by singing at his church and school choirs. At the age of 12, he won a singing contest, the Jamaican Band Wagon, whose win allowed him to take the stage with non-other than legendary Bob Marley with whom he shared vocals in five songs. In the early 70s, Pinky started recording for the Twinkle Brothers Talent Agency. He accomplished this by winning another competition. He was then flown to England where he recorded two songs "Children Cry" and "Street of Babylon". In 1979, when he was 18 years old, he received a call from Newton Merit, Jimmy Cliff’s manager since he wanted him to audition for a spot on the Jimmy Cliff TV Show. Since then he has been recording and singing non-stop, touring Japan and Europe, but always coming back to his beloved Jamaica. In early 2020, Pinky Dread signed with Music Brokers for a the next stage in his career having accomplished of very successful string of singles including collaborations with Sublime Reggae Kings, Sarah Menescal and Jamaican Reggae Cuts.
