The band's origins can be traced back to the burgeoning shoegaze and indie-pop scene of recent years. Emer Lacandazo (Radiomanila) and Gerard Panlilio (Iris PH) met and played as members of Stellar Spectre, a shoegaze band led by Xavier "X" Emas (Sunday Picnic Love Affair, Cinéma Lumière). Stellar Spectre performed in a couple of gigs and was on a momentum of sorts, until X had to migrate abroad, leaving the band without a frontman. As a result, the remnants of the Spectre paved the way to immortalize Emer's written demos through the formation of Galaxy Lodge. Gerard then recruited his life-long friend and former bandmate Aaron Aquino (Iris PH) to play bass for a couple of gigs in and around the south until the pandemic struck and forced everything to a halt. Eventually getting noticed by Lilystars Records in the summer of 2021, one of Manila's well-known independent pop labels, Galaxy Lodge was asked to professionally record songs for digital distribution. Galaxy Lodge then recruited Leone Requilman (BABYBLUE) and his brother Mikhail Requilman to play drums and guitar, respectively. Now assembled as a five-man stack, the band has created a distinctive sound that can be rooted in each member’s influences. Emer’s demo songs were then recreated in the spirit of indie-pop, flavored with the plaintive elements of shoegaze, and the grit of post-punk.
