Биография
Stella Parton is the sixth of twelve children from one of America’s most prolific creative families. Nashville branded Stella a Maverick in 1975 when she stormed on to the scene after writing, producing & releasing her debut album ‘I Want to Hold You (In My Dreams Tonight)’. Stella launched her very own record label, S.C.A.B records to release the project after being turned down by Nashville record executives. It was a feat unheard of at the time, particularly for a female. The following year Stella was signed to Elektra Records. The partnership produced three albums; Country Sweet, Stella Parton & Love Ya. Following her departure from Elektra Stella signed with Accord Townhouse Records. The label recruited Milan Williams of the Commodores to produce Stella’s 1982 album ‘So Far, So Good’. With the launch of her second record label, Raptor Records, Stella returned to her Appalachian roots. She produced two critically acclaimed records; Appalachian Gospel & Appalachian Blues, the latter of which received a Grammy nod. In 2016 Stella announced the release of a long awaited project, ‘Mountain Songbird’. The album pays homage to Stella’s favorite songwriter, her big sister Dolly. The aptly titled ‘Survivor’ is Stella’s 40th studio album. Parton produced the album and penned eight of the ten songs. It features a definitive take on Bob Seeger’s Classic ‘Like A Rock’ as well as a stripped down version of Avicii’s mega hit ‘Wake Me Up’.
