Natalie Wildgoose and an evolving cast of collaborators create alt folk music written in North Yorkshire and recorded in London, UK. She grew up making clothes, and singing in country and jazz bands, to then attending an art school in London. After graduating she made the move nearer to her mothers family in North Yorkshire for a while, where she began playing music with pianist Matt Robinson. The pair started writing songs and recording them in their bedroom in an old wheel house next to a waterfall. Creating their shared project Wanderland. Since then Natalie has created First Birdsongs, this EP is the sound of someone discovering their solo songwriting in real time – a peak into the collage of a mind that is absorbing new surroundings and using new tools to put them into songs. Listening to this collection you can feel the sun coming into the room – Natalie sat on the foot of the bed with a keyboard under the window looking over the river, finding her voice. Wildgoose wears her influences well – think Carole King singing with Molly Drake – but has a style all her own. It all begins here with - First Birdsongs.
