Биография
As the lead singer of Scandal, Patty Smyth cut an indelible figure during the early days of MTV. Finding the sweet spot between new wave style and pounding arena rock, Scandal scored a Top Ten smash hit in 1984 "The Warrior," a rousing rallying call known for its chorus of "Shooting at the walls of heartache, bang bang." Scandal never managed to land a second hit, and Smyth left the group, releasing her debut Never Enough in 1987, whose title track became a rock radio hit. After revisiting the upper reaches of the Top Ten in 1992 with "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough," an adult contemporary power ballad duet with Don Henley, Smyth entered a quiet retirement, devoting herself to raising a family with her husband, John McEnroe. Following a 20-year spell of quiet, Smyth returned with a holiday album called Come on December in 2015, then the pop album It's About Time in 2020. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
