Brighton based electro disco rockers Kovak are playing the Brighton Carnival (Formally Kemptown Carnival) on 10th June In Brighton with vocalist Annelies De Van De Velde. The band are set to re-unite after a long break from the stage. After many years gracing Brightons favorite venues with their very own Club Kovak night, Kovak became the first unsigned band playlisted by the UK’s biggest station BBC Radio 2 with their stand alone single ‘Killer Boots’. Follow up single, Radiate was spun by Steve Wright, and two successful forays to Canada’s NXNE festival followed along with a centre page spread in The Times & a prestigious gig at The BBC Club, London. Kovak recorded their debut album Heroes & High Heels with original vocalist Abby Harman back In 2008 with dance producer Andy Gray (Paul Oakenfold, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode) at his haunted mansion on the Isle Of Wight along with the go ahead from Jimi Destri (Blondie) to record their own disco popping version of the bands No1 single Atomic. Production duties for the Modern Lovers album in 2014 saw BAFTA nominated Dom Beken at the helm (Nick Masons Saucerful Of Secrets) which was recorded at Youths studio in Andalusia, Spain. With elements of Eurythmics, Blondie and the Scissor Sisters evident throughout, the band were championed at LA’s KROQ and single & live favorite I Love The Dancefloor was played on BBC 6 Music. Remixes by Andy Hughes (The Orb) & Killing Jokes Youth (Pink Floyd / The Verve) followed.
