The Wends is the «frustration that you’re not enjoying an experience as much as you should, even something you’ve worked for years to attain» and you feel «as if your heart had been accidentally demagnetized by a surge of expectations». 
 Born in Italy as Smile in 2019, the band decided to change its name to The Wends to represent a new chapter. The new name reshapes the identity in more obscure and nervous songs that shift from jangly arpeggios to sharper post-punk guitars. From melodic singing to a shouted, expressive and free voice. From the reflections on everyday life to the quest for an alternative after the meltdown looking for what philosopher Mark Fisher called “post-capitalist desire”. 
Their first album, The name of this band is Smile (Subjangle/Dotto) was named ‘Italian record of the year’ by indie-zone.it website and received critical acclaim in Italy as well as several radio airplay in the United States, United Kingdon, and Spain. 
 They gigged on some of the main stages of alternative culture of Italy such as Hiroshima Mon Amour (Turin), Bronson (Ravenna), Il Covo (Bologna), and the best showcase festival for Italian music, Mi-Ami in Milan. 
 The last album from The Wends, It’s here where you fall, will be out October 2022 from We Were Never Being Boring (US/IT) and Subjangle (SA/UK). 
 In March 2023 The Wends will perform at international SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas (US).
