Биография
Princeton was an American indie pop band from Los Angeles, California. The band consisted of identical twin brothers Jesse (guitar, vocals) and Matt Kivel (bass, vocals), Ben Usen (keyboard) and David Kitz (drums). Princeton gained recognition for their live performances, often supporting high-profile acts such as Phoenix, Sleigh Bells, Vampire Weekend, Camera Obscura, The Ruby Suns, and Ra Ra Riot. The band's name, Princeton, originated from members growing up on Princeton Street in Santa Monica, California, although the origin was often misattributed to the university of the same name. Jesse and Matt Kivel, along with childhood friend Ben Usen, officially formed the band in 2005 while studying in London. The band credited London with forcing them to develop their live act with a minimal setup, given the cost of shipping instruments overseas. The band moved back to LA in 2007 to record and perform full-time. With the addition of David Kitz, Princeton first gained attention in 2008 with their four-song, conceptual EP, Bloomsbury. Princeton received numerous positive reviews in Spin, Stereogum, and The New York Times, among others. Cocoon of Love, the band's debut LP, was released September 29, 2009, on Kanine Records. Its first single was "Shout it Out." On February 21, 2012, the band released their second album, Remembrance of Things to Come. The band played its last show that year at the El Rey Theatre.
