Биография

With a name originating from a tanning salon, Tan Universe is the recording project and live band of North Carolina born singer/songwriter Dan O’Grady, featuring a revolving door of collaborators. As of 6/2/23, the band has officially released their first studio album, Tastefully Quaint Trinkets & Antiques. Inspired by the likes of The Strokes, Wavves, Tame Impala, Surf Curse, and Vundabar, the band has branded their sound as “Surfadelic garage-punk,” but even this phrase doesn’t fully cover the wide range of sounds captured by Tan Universe. With one of O’Grady’s main goals being to never stick too closely to one specific style of rock, when listening to Tan Universe you may go from listening to hardcore punk one minute to psychedelic slowcore the next. Beginning as a solo project in 2017, Tan Universe has historically been based out of Asheville, NC, but O’Grady plans to move to Los Angeles later this year to further pursue the project.
