Биография
On Eureka Street in the heart of San Francisco, a folk-rock-n-roll troubadour writes a new piece, set for a March 2023 release. Somewhere between a concept album and a rock opera, “The Ballad of Madelyne and Therese” tells the story of two women in love in the 1920s-1940s. Imagery-rich and provocative, Garlin’s songs on this album take us through the streets of New York before Times Square had its fluorescent glare, and before out-and-proud living could exist without the world’s gawking stare. Produced by Garlin’s bassist Jonny Flaugher, the new album features guitar by first-call side man David Levita, drums by Michael Jerome and piano by Kenneth Crouch among others. In their last collaboration (an EP in 2020) Garlin and Flaugher received positive reviews from top trade magazines including Glide Magazine, Americana Highways, and Pop Matters. Garlin’s work has also been celebrated in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Boston Patriot, and by national radio hosts such as John Platt from WFUV who writes - “Rachel makes it look effortless with her accessible melodies but dig deeper into her lyrics (like "crash course in chagrin") and you realize she's creating poetry in relatable human situations."
