 Halik Ni Gringo is a five-piece alt-metal band from Manila, Philippines. Vocalist Joey Santos, guitarists Wacky Acosta and Joe Fontanilla, bassist Yai Agustin and drummer Bid Pambid continue to explore the edges of the human experience: Their songs touch on gender roles, identities, and adulting using Halik Ni Gringo's amalgam of punk, metal, rap and offbeat humor as vessel. "The songs let me talk about things that used to be difficult for me to bring up in casual conversation," says Santos. "All of us in the band grew up in an older era when being open about stuff like feelings, sexuality, and even mental health were shunned. Talking candidly about these weren't traditional 'masculine' traits, especially in our conservative Catholic narrative. We're progressives who believe in the individual and how the individual creates a more diverse group - we've never been afraid to show who we are. "We try to keep these conversations flowing in our songs, and have done so since starting back in 2006." Halik Ni Gringo released their first full length LP back in 2014 (The Call Of Booty), and the band is currently releasing its second album called #2stDebutAlbum, an ongoing project that started in 2017 and will end in 2027.
