Биография

This musical tradition has its origins in Spain and Portugal in the 13th century and it was a way of poor students to earn money and food. Nowadays, students don't belong to a "Tuna" for the original purposes, but seeking to develop themselves, to meet new people from other universities and as an escape from the demanding academic life. Tuna de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto was born in 1988 and is made up of college students from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. They wear the typical black capes said to have inspired J.K.Rowling, that lived in Porto, during the writing of Harry Potter. In its years of activity, TEUP has performed hundreds of times in Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, England, Scotland, Mexico and Brazil.
Para Lá dos Palcos was released by the group in 2007, a CD with covers of Rodrigo Leão, Ala Dos Namorados and even Elis Regina. It also counts with a variety of classical pieces from Vittorio Monti to Edvard Grieg and some originals like Só um Beijo and Porto, Pátria, Portugal .
In November 2018, Com o Porto Na Memória was released, a disc which includes both classics from TEUP (Da Ribeira às Fontaínhas) and Portuguese music (Festa da Vida), as well as instrumentals (Danzón Nº2, by Arturo Márquez) and other styles of music that comprise their musical diversity.
