Биография
Learning piano from the age of 5, music became an essential part of James' life and it only expanded when finding the guitar and other instruments. With music being a medium in which James could process tragedy or moments of elation, it became an integral part of his life. James Smith has been making music for 14 years fronting indie rock band Gypsies on the Autobahn and creating electronic music under the alias YURN. But now he turns his attention to his newest and most honest project, J Smith. In May 28th 2021 James finally unveiled his debut album '(...) And you chose not laugh' to critical acclaim. It highlighted J's abilities as not only a songwriter but a producer and arranger too, and hailed J as one of the 'most fearlessly honest and authentic artists in the country.' [Hotpress]. This ode to love and loss was heavily featured in top 20 lists, and was named as one of 10 albums you must hear before you die [Irish TImes]. On the 2nd of March, J follows his debut, with Skipping Stones, a song about separation and distance, reminiscent of Elliot Smith and Ben Howard. J was overcome with a thought that I might never write another song about his father again, made all the more significant having become a new father himself. The first of four from the Three Dots EP, a collection of songs which didn't fit '(...) And you chose not to laugh', fans of J's honesty and vulnerability will not be disappointed. Three Dots is out April 20th. Pre-save now
