Pat Appleton became internationally known as the voice of De-Phazz with the iconic song „The Mambo Craze“. She was born in Aachen, Germany to a German mother and a Liberian father. She grew up in her father's home in Liberia, West Africa. While studying political science in Heidelberg, Pat Appleton acquired initial experience as a singer in gala and function music entertainment and learnt vocal techniques. She soon found that she was beRer suited as an ambassador for music than as a spokesperson for politics and soon joined the Heidelberg sound collective De-Phazz, with whom she continues to work with the band as a singer and composer to this day. De-Phazz music reached an international breakthrough and the band has been touring worldwide ever since. Pat Appleton has released 3 solo albums to date “What’s Next?”, 2007, “MiRendrin” (in German), 2011, and “A Higher Desire”; as well as many albums with De-Phazz and collaborations with other German and international musicians (for example: Budapest Jazz Orchestra, Nighthawks, Bahama Soul Club, Jazzkantine, Matti Klein Jazz Trio, HR Big Band, Wolfgang Haffner German All Star Big Band, and many more) She sings and writes Songs in German, English, French and Spanish and is fluent in German, English and Spanish. She has worked with Big Bands and orchestras in Germany as well as abroad. The German TV station 3SAT once called Pat Appleton “one of the "most important voices of contemporary German jazz".
