Tage (Syllable Psychotic, Sylla Psy, Sylla Psy Selek) is an American rapper and songwriter. He is a soloist, as well as a member of rap group MHz Legacy, along with rappers Copywrite, Jakki, Camu Tao (RIP), and renowned producer/DJ RJD2. The Columbus, Ohio crew is credited with being the first hip hop group from their city to be internationally recognized. Just as his father, who is a writer/composer/arranger/music professor, and his late grandfather, who was inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, Tage’s life has been engulfed in music and education. After graduating from Morehouse College, Tage began to focus more on his solo career. In 2007, Tage released his first solo mixtape entitled, Highly Recommended Vol. 1, an ode to the late great hip hop producer Jay Dee, by whom Tage was greatly inspired. Since then, while being a classroom teacher, Tage has been featured on about a dozen mixtapes, released another group album with MHz Legacy, released two solo EPs, a solo LP (Contagion, 2017), and 2020’s single, Master’s Degree. His new album will drop in 2022.
