James Maad is subtle and seeks connection with the listener, treating them as a mature and intelligent individual, rather than resorting to easy tactics to please as many people as possible. Beneath layers of "conventional" electronic music lie lyrics that are much more intelligent, biting, and critical of our society than what is typically found. Having grown up with Madonna, Michael Jackson, Massive Attack, and Bjork, traces of those artists have unconsciously imprinted in his DNA.
