Bedroom pop was a choice for lots of artists, but a necessity for Victor Internet. The now-22-year-old musician became an indie heartthrob and playlist darling while still a teenager, sharing space and stages with the superstars of bedroom pop even as they chafed at that genre description. Recording and even shooting videos in their bedroom on Chicago’s South Side, VIctor’s career has been a case study in ingenuity, scrappiness, and reinvention. In a sense, Victor’s musical project is about chipping away at a block of marble, waiting for its final shape to reveal itself. That this process has yielded stirring songs in so many subgenres only proves the versatility of Victor Internet. “I’ve always been on the search for that, the Victor sound,” they say. “And I think I've finally figured it out.”
