Биография
If any band is going to thrive during a global pandemic, it’s Sweden’s General Surgery. The unsigned deathgrind quintet spent their time in lockdown making use of increasingly-common telemedicine technologies in order to maintain clinical collaboration despite travel restrictions. The band’s research in the field of pathology is well documented. Beginning with their self-published 1989 article, Erosive Offals (Malignant Necrotomy), the surgical team has conducted a number of short-form studies in the ensuing years, as well as two well-regarded theses: 2006’s Left Hand Pathology and 2009’s Corpus In Extremis: Analysing Necrocriticism. Most recently, their 2017 research alongside Spain’s Bodybag shook the academic pathology world to its core. Head Surgeon Dr. Carlsson initially envisioned the experimental, online procedures that led to Lay Down And Be Counted as nothing more than remedial testing, but the clinical trials yielded such impressive results the project was immediately green-lit by General Surgery’s board of trustees. The initial research resulted in 12 partially-formed songs, seven of which were selected for continued refinement and inclusion on the EP. General Surgery’s adaptation of, and increased capabilities in the realm of telemedicine technologies has been so impressive that two additional phases have been added: a full-length dissertation slated for Fall of '21, as well as a special, 3-song report to be issued in Aug. General Surgery: Masked Since 1988!
