Биография
Guadalupe Urbina is a singer, songwriter and researcher of oral traditions from Costa Rica. She began her career in the seventies with a series of recordings of her original music. In 1988, she participated in Amnesty International's tour along Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel and Youssou N'Dour. In 1994, she received the Gaviota award from the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, España. During the next three decades, Guadalupe published a dozen of discographical productions and performed countless shows in different festivals, theatres and stages throughout America, Europe and Africa. In 2017, she received a Declaration of Cultural Interest from the Ministry of Culture of Costa Rica for the performance “Abril Se Fue”. In 2018, she received the recognition of the Association of Composers and Musical Authors of Costa Rica for her contribution in the compilation of the afro-metisse traditions of Guanacaste. That same year, Costa Rica’s national postal service commemorated Urbina’s career with the issuance of philatelic stamps. In 2019, the Costa Rica Film Production Center produced the documentary “Los Caminos del Amor”, based on the life of Guadalupe Urbina. In 2022, she released her new single and music video “La Cumbia de la Niña”, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund.
