Glass Eyes is the recording & songwriting of Buffalo-based musician, Jacob Turk. Glass Eyes gloomy; yet uplifting style borrows from genres like shoegaze, indie-folk, rock, and ambient. A one-man band that began creating music in late 2022, released his first song The Wind in early 2023, reaching many peaks of musical upbringing. Crediting much of his style from works of Elliott Smith, Planning For Burial, The Microphones, German Error Message, Type O Negative and much more. Starting his musical upbringing from his father, he started working on and releasing music in 2010, at only 4 years old. At the time, he wanted rapping to be the genre he wanted to stick with and ended up rapping for nearly 10 years but when quarantine struck the whole world, it changed his mind on what he wanted to become. In 2020, he started up the music project Cascades, creating drone-like metal, taking hints of shoegaze, post-metal, black-metal, doomgaze, and ambient. In 2021, he ended up releasing the album Below Our Minds, gaining a small cult following. In a later underground interview he stated, “I’m not trying to mix folk and ambience because that has already been done before. I’m not trying to mix anything, I’m trying to create music for hard times that everyone goes through”. Later in 2022 he decided to quit Cascades, and move to a bigger, more deeper project which is known today as Glass Eyes. To this day, he has more than 10,000 streams to his name and continues to release more music.
