Born in Missouri, he grew up in Southern California, and spent several summers in his mother's native Norway. Eric credits this time in the land of Ibsen, Grieg and Munch for awakening his creative calling. He began studying the piano at age seven, guitar at 15, and continued his music studies at UCLA. Upon graduation, Eric moved to Paris, then West Berlin. Eric got a big break working with electronica supergroup Tangerine Dream, where he worked on several scores including Ridley Scott’s Legend, starring Tom Cruise. Eric was also commissioned to write a new score for a re-release of Battleship Potemkin. The premiere was a sensation at the Berlin Film Festival, and Eric was lured back to L.A. With 45 films, and over 600 episodes of television, three ballets (Sea Princess, Noah’s Ark, and Camelot) and four musicals, (Die Feenkonigin von Zeitelmoos, Wake UP! Battleship Potemkin and Voices from the Cellar) to his credit, Eric has expressed himself in many genres as a composer. Film/Television credits: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Duck Dynasty, Dante's Cove, Mike Hammer, Elvira's Haunted Hills, and Legend, to name a few. Eric’s third ballet, Camelot premiered to an enthusiastic reception on May 18, 2019 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Eric’s musical, “Wake UP!” had its first reading in Berlin on December 3, 2018. His fourth musical, Die Feenkonigin vom Zeitelmoos is a commissioned work from Die Luisenburg-Festspiele and will premiere in August of 2021.
