Биография
In 1979, Tim Rescala won first prize in the scholastic composition contest at the Escola de Música Villa-Lobos e Colégio da Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira. Before that, he worked as an arranger and pianist of popular music. Later he worked in theater music, contributing to over 50 plays as composer and musical director. In 1983 he won the Mambembe award for the music of the plays Will and A Porta. He participated in several modern music festivals in Brazil and abroad, including the Festival Sonidos de las Américas-Brasil, held in April 1996 in New York, where he performed two works at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall. Rescala works with pop music, concert music, and incidental music. He works in many fields of composition: in theater, together with directors Aderbal Freire Filho, Amir Haddad, and Álvaro Apocalypse, of group Giramundo; for TV, especially as musical producer for TV Globo; in the dance field, writing scripts and songs for the Orquestra Brasileira de Sapateado; and in film, mainly with director Eduardo Coutinho. He was one of the founders of Estúdio da Glória, a cooperative formed in 1981 in Rio de Janeiro to produce sophisticated electro-acoustic works. With Rodolfo Caesar, he produced two CDs of electro-acoustic music for the label Rio-Arte Digital, Estúdio da Glória and Música Eletroacústica Brasileira. In 1993 he again won the Mambembe award for the text of the children's musical Pianíssimo, which was adapted in a book released by RHJ. Rescala won the Sated award with the staging of Pianíssimo in Belo Horizonte, MG, in the same year. In 1996, he released the book Pequena História (não autorizada) da Música (Frente). In the next year he launched the children's opera A Orquestra dos Sonhos, which was also released on CD (the first in Brazil in the genre), with the creation of the Pianíssimo label, specializing in children's music. With his second children's musical, Papagueno, he won the Mambembe award in 1997 for best script and the Coca-Cola award for best music. He also won two other Mambembe trophies for the presentation of two of the five best shows in 1997, Papagueno and A Orquestra dos Sonhos. Today he hosts the classical music TV series Concertos para a Juventude. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
