Биография

King Africa was started by Argentine frontman Martin Laacré. His first appearance was in August 1992 on the album DJ Deró - Vol. 1 with the track "EOE". Followed in Summer 1993 with "Póntelo Pónselo" becoming a club favorite. His 1st album was El Africano in 1993, reaching PLATINUM in Argentina and Chile, featuring the single SALTA, that topped the charts across America. Then King Africa focused on preparing a live CD, from his tour performances in 1993 and early 1994 taking him to the remotest corners of South America, achieving unprecedented success. The release in late 1994 of the much-anticipated second album, Al Palo had great impact. The singles "Al Palo" and also "Mama Yo Quiero" quickly climbed the charts in all of Latin America. In Chile, where King Africa had a particularly high rating, was invited to the 1995 International Song Festival of Viña del Mar, where he played together with a large band and won the sympathy of the public, as well as critical acclaim. His act spread quickly across the continent after the Viña del Mar event. Then he recorded what would be his next success the album Remix with new versions of their earlier hits and some new songs, after which King Africa returned to his touring organized in many Latin American countries. He also performed in the Acapulco Festival (Mexico), in USA, Norway and Sweden. In 1997 Martin Laacré left the project. Since 2009 to the present, Martin Laacré has resumed performing under the moniker King Africa.
