California’s Allen French has always felt connected to culture of the world rather than his own immediate environment. Bringing a timeless touch and fresh spin to worldly sounds, with a love for jazz, hip-hop and house music shaping his style, he’s quickly caught the ears of tastemakers through releases such as ‘Nova Vida’ and ‘Above Water’. 2017 saw Allen French pairing up with famed Parisian imprint Kitsuné, who signed his single ‘Nova Vida’ and bundled the track as an EP with remixes from talents such as Motez and Captain Planet, leading to the record amassing over 5 million streams on Spotify and Apple Music, as well as receiving international radio support from Triple J and KCRW. Most recently, Allen’s respected cover of Frankie Knuckles “The Whistle Song” saw international support from DJ’s worldwide, leading to its release on a Cafe Del Mar compilation which reached millions. From Mexico to Paris, his sets have treated listeners to a vibrant spectrum and thoughtful selection of sounds. Channelling those international influences, his organic approach to electronic music has been a coveted asset, finding him on lineups alongside a versatile group of artists from Eli Escobar and Josh Butler, to Pat Lok, Parcels and Lewis Ofman. 2021 looks to expand upon his distinct vision, with an array of releases forthcoming.
