Биография
El Dasa is the stage name of Sonoran pop singer Dasahev López Saavedra. He began singing while still in his early teens and entered many competitions and eventually landing a spot in the last edition of Mexico's La Academia 6: Última Generación, but he was eliminated in the second round. Undaunted, he emigrated to Los Angeles at 18, and continued singing wherever he could and working odd jobs. El Dasa eventually secured a job as a driver for various Spanish-speaking musicians, actors, and dignitaries when they visited the United States. He landed a position as Mexican ranchera legend Vincente Fernandez's driver. Basically auditioning in the car, Fernandez said he was deeply moved by the young singer's vocal command and discipline. The beloved Mexican icon brought the young man on-stage with him at the Gibson Amphitheater to duet on "Amor de los Dos," and encouraged the audience to support Saavedra's career. Given the video of the event that went viral on the internet, he began getting engagements and changed his name to El Dasa. He was courted by and secured a recording contract with Fonovisa. His debut album, Pa' La Raza, was issued in October of 2012 and reached the top tier of Mexico's airplay charts. El Dasa began appearing on television and opening for many acts, including Roberto Tapia. "Por Ser Bonta" appeared a year later as a pre-release single, followed by his second album, Alegre y Enamorado in August of 2014, which landed in the top spot on both the Latin albums and Mexican regional charts. In 2016 and 2017, El Dasa released four charting singles -- "Ya Me Vi," "Perdí el Sombrero," "Edición Especial," and the title track to his third album, El Hijo del Desierto, which was issued late in 2017 and topped the Mexican Regional album charts. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
