Pete Ayres performs in a wide range of styles and is generally regarded as a "crossover" artist with his musical roots firmly based in jazz and r&b. His unique voice ranges from smooth and airy to raw and soulful, while his songwriting and performance is a stylistically broad mix of jazz, pop, soul and r&b. You’re just as likely to hear him cover a song by Bill Withers as Nat King Cole. Compared early on to Jamie Cullum, Ayres has developed his own distinctive singing/songwriting style, able to smoothly move from a ballad like “Georgia On My Mind” to a 90’s pop hit like “Wonderwall”. Ayres continues to grow stylistically with “Till I See You” (2015) incorporating his jazz education and r&b influences, while his latest album “6 Years Ago” (2022) is a mix of a gritty retro funk and acoustic soul. Ayres has performed on major stages throughout the east coast including: Birdland Jazz Club, The Blue Note, Brooklyn Bowl, Bowery Ballroom, the Hippodrome Theater, and in the Midwest alongside pop artists like Gavin DeGraw and Mat Kearney. He has also performed with The Young New Yorkers’ Chorus for the popular NPR show “Radiolab” and at one of the most renowned venues in the world, Carnegie Hall. Ayres recently released his latest album “6 Years Ago”, which includes singles “I.O.U,” “Take Me Back” and “Troubling”.
