Aayushi is a folk singer-songwriter from Birmingham, UK. She writes strikingly tender songs, delivering them with an intimacy that has often been described as the sonic equivalent of a warm hug. She was recently selected from a national open call to join the UK New Artist Collective, a cross-disciplinary group of 18 artists with a shared goal to champion creativity and inspire communities across the UK. 2022 saw Aayushi move into Birmingham’s live performance spaces with a surprising ease. Support from her local poetry community quickly established her as one of Birmingham’s up-and-coming artists, playing at venues including O2 Academy Birmingham, Warwick Arts Centre, and Symphony Hall. In August, she found herself playing festival sites across the city in support of the Commonwealth Games 2022. Her latest single, ‘I Ran Out Into the Snowflakes, Laughing’, released halfway between the winter solstice and Christmas Day, is a whimsical winter tale of joy and community. Aayushi describes it as “maybe the happiest song I’ve ever written”, and her hand-drawn animation in the accompanying music video, is just as joyful.
