Austin-based songwriter, singer and vivid storyteller McKenna Michels makes fearless, complex pop music that radiates with mesmerizing vocal melodies and soul-baring lyrics. In intimate performances, she shares vulnerable stories about her personal journey through childhood abuse, resilience, and rediscovering the beauty of human connection. Her mission is to initiate an open discussion with her audience about the difficulties of forgiveness– whether that’s forgiving her mother or herself– self-acceptance, and the mental health struggles that come with healing. McKenna’s latest single, “Survivor” (Top 25 on the Mediabase Adult Contemporary Chart), was written as a personal pep-talk to help her get through the more difficult parts of her healing process. The music video, directed by Nick Peterson (Evanescence, Five Finger Death Punch), premiered on XS Noize (May 10th) in honor of Mental Health Awareness month.
