Mairena Julius is a singer/songwriter/music producer from São Paulo based in London. He was abandoned by his biological parents before the age of 3 and subsequently adopted by a loving family of which he is the only musician. The episode shaped his whole approach to life and people, and helped build the foundations of his artistic quest, as music played a crucial role in his coping as a child and teenager. He taught himself how to write songs on the acoustic guitar during afternoon sessions inside his mother’s closet (because the acoustics made it sound better, even though he couldn’t have known why at the time). Abandonment, rescue, inadequacy, urban solitude and the will to escape and seek truths beyond what’s apparent have been his most prevalent concerns as a songwriter.
