SHADES is the NYC based producer duo comprised of Thomas Matera and Julien Johnson. During the past five years, they have been working on improving their craft, style and creativity while developing a unique sound within dance music. After experimenting with the different styles that encompass the genres of dance music, Thomas and Julien decided to blend EDM and pop into their own sound. With their uplifting melodies and energetic harmonies, they try to capture a variety of emotions that create a memorable experience. Over the years they’ve been supported by heavy-hitters in the industry including The Chainsmokers, Betty Who, Mako, and Two Friends. SHADES has performed live opening up for Ellie Goulding, Gryffin, Pierce Fulton and have accumulated over 5 million streams across streaming platforms. SHADES has been featured on a number of outlets in the music blogosphere including iHeartRadio, NYC’s #1 hit radio station Z100, and Hype Machine where they hit #1 for their remix of XYLØ’s “Get Closer”. With a wealth of experience behind them and a growing fanbase, the future is bright for this young duo. After breaking through and establishing themselves in 2018 with remixes for artists such as The Chainsmokers, Grace VanderWaal, Mako, Betty Who, XYLØ, and Two Friends, SHADES spent 2019 locked in the studio, where they produced and wrote what is now “Carousel,” due for release in early April.
