Биография
Gospel vocalist and worship leader Lisa Page Brooks is a soulful performer who first came to the public's attention as a member of the gospel ensemble Witness. A native of Detroit, Brooks (née Page) was born into a musical family, the daughter of Charles Warren Harris, member of the legendary Motown group the Monitors. Growing up, Brooks and her sister Laeh gained early performance experience singing locally as the gospel vocal duo the Voices of Eden. In 1986, an invitation to sit in on a practice with Witness, then a newly formed vocal ensemble, led to Brooks joining the contemporary gospel quartet. Formed by producer/songwriter Michael Brooks as a sister project to his all-male gospel group Commissioned, Witness soon became a showcase for Brooks, who steadily gained wider and wider popularity due to her throaty, yet resonant vocals on such hits as "Safety," "Clap Your Hands," "Resting in Him," and "Standard." Also during this time, Witness garnered several industry accolades, including a 1991 Grammy nomination for Best Group/Duo, a 1991 GMWA Excellence Award for Best Group, and a 1993 Stellar Award for Best Performance Group/Duo. Lisa and Michael ultimately married, and in 1997 they launched her solo career with the release of her critically acclaimed debut More Than You'll Ever Know. Produced by Michael, the album received widespread praise, drawing nominations for Best New Artist at both the 1997 Dove Awards and the 1997 Stellar Awards. Four years later, Brooks delivered her sophomore album, the eponymous Lisa Page Brooks, which once again featured production from her husband. In 2009, Brooks returned with her third studio album, Strong, which included the number one Billboard Hot Gospel Song "I Just Want to Say Thank You." The compilation album Hidden Treasures: The Best of Lisa Page Brooks appeared two years later. In 2013, Brooks released her fourth album, Ready, which included the single "God Thing," and featured production from her son Justin Brooks, and vocal arrangements from her daughter, vocalist Tasha Lockhart. Along with performing, Lisa and Michael are pastors, leading worship services at the Restoration Fellowship Church International in Detroit. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
