Their goal was to create something that was challenging to play as well as unique. Little did they know that they were at the forefront of defining a new style of music that would influence many future Technical Death Metal bands. With Scott's 10 string bass the band became well known within their genre for their musicianship and unique sound. After moving from the humble town Defiance, Ohio Josh Hernandez (guitar) and Scott Plummer (10 string bass) met up with Michael Collins (drums) and Chad Eklund (vocals) to form Viraemia in Phoenix, Arizona in early 2008. They acquired vocalist Tony Martinez in October of 2008 and then recorded their first EP and released it in early 2009. Shortly after, Kyle Moeller joined as the 2nd guitarist (2010-2017). After Tony Martinez's suicide attempt in 2012 the band split up. The band had made many attempts to reform since 2015 but due to many of the members suffering from depression the results were unsuccessful. It was announced that Scott Plummer had committed suicide in March of 2019 after a long struggle with depression. The band has reformed with the addition of a new vocalist Mark Garrett and new bassist Ollie Morgan.
