Physiotherapist since 2001, Frederic Wellens’s real passion since his teenage years has been music. Singer songwriter for more than 20 years, he also has a keen interest for audio engineering. Until the release of Dark Overlay in December 2021, he had rarely shared his songs, but chance and the strangeness of spring 2020 gave him the unique opportunity to record his first official album. He did so in his home studio with the aid of Montreal based producer Peter Ranallo. Folk fingerstyle acoustic is one of his favorite genres. Recently, he explored combining the intricacies of that type of playing with reverberant ambiances made up of dreamy electric guitars and lush analog synth pads. This particular soundscape can be found throughout Dark Overlay, an introspective and intimate album created in times of turmoil. Following the release of the album, he kept recording and releasing numerous singles throughout 2022.
