Биография
Frankie Goes To Hollywood created an explosive moment in British pop history. During the mid 1980s, they dominated the UK charts with their high-gloss anthems. 1984 saw the iconic moment that the provocative hybrid rock-dance anthem “Relax” got banned from the BBC, making waves across the UK and beyond. Multiple remixes of the same song prolonged its fame and the record reached a total of 2 million sales at the time. Their politically-charged second single, “Two Tribes”, was the longest running UK Number 1 during the 1980s, remaining there for nine weeks while “Relax” climbed back up to Number 2. The renowned “The Power Of Love” cemented their record-breaking run of three Number 1s in the UK Top 40. Their darker textured second album “Liverpool” gained similar successes with their singles “Rage Hard” and “Warriors Of The Wasteland”. However, following their stadium tour in 1987, lead singer Holly Johnson departed band which saw the end of Frankie Goes To Hollywood at the time. However, the band have reunited in 2023 for a one-time only performance at Eurovision in their hometown of Liverpool.
